My box contained a good variety of sweet and savoury snacks, plus one beverage – there was something for any of my cravings. I loved knowing that all the products I received were reviewed and approved by Nutritionist’s, and to my delight, the items were in fact healthier snack or beverage options.
My top picks were the Proper Crisps and the Mayver’s Health Bar. I am a huge fan of Proper Crisps and always recommend them to people who are looking for a healthier chip alternative – they only use all natural ingredients, and their chips are cooked by hand! I had never tried their Smoked Paprika flavour before, so I loved that this GoodnessMe Box gave me the chance to try something different from my normal choice. Like all their other flavours, it was delicious. I am also a big fan of Mayver’s but had never tried their bars. I was impressed – it was sweet, chewy and had a great nutritional profile – nothing artificial, no preservatives, all natural ingredients. I would buy these Mayver’s Health Bars again.
The Cashew Parm Cheez is a staple pantry item of mine, so whilst not new, I do absolutely love this product. It is made from 100% real-food (a total of 5 ingredients) and is the best vegan parmesan cheese replacement I have found. I recalled receiving Table of Plenty snacks in the boxes I used to receive with GoodnessMe, so I wasn’t surprised to see them again, they are clearly a favourite. They are a great low-calorie snack with a good nutritional profile, especially great for kids.
I tried the Organic Hemp Protein Shake mixed with plant-based milk and ice. It mixed well and had a nice creamy texture however, I did not love the flavour. Typically, I do not opt for hemp protein products as I always find they leave a ‘grassy’ after taste, and this was the case with this product. Whilst I would not purchase this product based on taste, the nutritional profile is excellent. Organic hemp protein makes up 75% of the product and thaumatin is used as the sweetener, which is a great all-natural, low-calorie replacement to sugar. The Kuranda Wholefoods Muesli, despite its excellent nutritional profile (100% real food ingredients, low sugar, and low GI), was extremely bland in flavour, I had to add lots of yoghurt to it or natural honey to make it palatable. I would not buy this again.
The Banks Botanicals Distilled Non-alcoholic Spirit was not for me – I do not like tonic style or botanical infused beverages – I found this extremely bitter. If you love a classic gin and tonic however, and are looking for a non-alcoholic alternative, I am sure you will love this! This product is also low sugar and low calorie (only 9 calories per serve) making it a healthier non-alcoholic alternative.
I also struggled to like the Koochikoo Naturally Flavoured Hard Candy, it tasted slightly medicinal and is not something I would reach for. However, the candy has a good nutritional profile compared to conventional hard candy. It is low sugar (1g per serving), naturally sweetened with tapioca starch and vegan. I would recommend these to any parents (or adults who just love their candy!).
