Product Description
Marley Spoon is all about convenience and inspiring people to cook recipes from scratch in 6 easy steps. They focus on high quality, locally sourced, pre-portioned ingredients for zero food waste and offer a large variety of meals compared to other meal delivery kits in Australia.
At the time of writing (October 2023), Marley Spoon offers two plans: 2-person and 4-person. For each plan, you can choose from 2, 3, 4, or 5 meals per week. There are 70+ recipes each week to choose from (options change weekly), and the meal kits are easily customisable to individual dietary preferences.
Nutrition Rundown
Marley Spoon considers dietary/lifestyle requirements including vegan, low-calorie, healthy, fast, vegetarian, no-added gluten, dairy-free and family-friendly. There are a minimum of 8 vegetarian meals and 10 no-added gluten meals per week. The wide variety of recipes is great for picky eaters and individuals with strong dietary preferences or dietary restrictions.
Research from the University of Sydney has analysed and compared the nutritional composition of some of Australia’s largest meal kit providers showing that MarleySpoon provides the highest amount of protein per meal and the lowest amount of fat per meal compared to other meal kit subscription services. This research suggests that MarleySpoon meal kits would be a suitable choice for individuals trying to lose weight or maintain weight. Individuals may choose to consider the low-calorie (250-550 calories/per serving) or reduced-carb recipes (less than 25g of carbs/per serving).
The meals are balanced and include high-fibre and low-GI ingredients and lean proteins. The sodium content of the meals is on the higher end so avoid adding additional salt to your meals.
Tip: The meal portions are standard and fulfilling however if needed you can always choose to add a portion of leafy or steamed greens to increase nutrient and fibre intake at meal times.
